- Coloring Page #1739 - Winged Alebrije (Mexican Fantastic Creature)
This coloring page shows an alebrije, a fantastic creature from Mexican folk art. Alebrijes are imaginary animals, often mixing features of different creatures (wings, tails, horns, or exaggerated ears) and decorated with bright colors and intricate patterns.
They were first created in the 1930s by artisan Pedro Linares, who, after a strange dream, brought these creatures to life using papier-mâché. Today, alebrijes have become true symbols of Mexican imagination and are also carved in wood, especially in the region of Oaxaca.
Connected to the Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead), alebrijes are sometimes said to be spiritual guides, accompanying souls on their journey. This coloring page is a playful way to discover a vibrant and poetic part of Mexican culture, while encouraging children to unleash their creativity with colors.
