Do you know this crunchy little treasure you sometimes find hidden inside a cake or at the bottom of a bag of trail mix? That's right—it's an almond! And the ones you see here are especially funny... they look like they're about to wink at you with their big, playful eyes. But don't be fooled by their silly faces—there's a lot to learn about them! An almond is actually the seed of the fruit of the almond tree, a tree that blooms early in spring, sometimes even before its leaves grow. Its flowers, often pink or white, are one of the first signs that warmer days are coming. The almond grows inside a hard shell that needs to be cracked open to reveal this small, oval treat. People eat almonds raw, roasted, sliced, ground into paste—or even turned into almond milk! And best of all, they're packed with goodness: fiber, vitamins, and even a touch of brain magic (or so we like to say when we nibble one before doing homework).

In this interactive coloring page, you'll meet two cheerful almonds: one that's still completely whole, and one that's slightly cracked open. Take a close look at their shape and texture—there are fine lines on the shells and smooth curves on the nut inside. To color them in, you can use a hazelnut brown for the shell of the whole almond, a lighter brown for the open one, and a golden beige for the almond inside. Their big round eyes add a sweet touch to the scene. The small "w"-shaped mouth and tiny eyebrows give them a mischievous expression, as if they're about to tell you a nutty little joke.

With their warm and tasty-looking shades, these almonds almost seem ready for a snack... but don't worry, you're not expected to eat them after you color them!
