Arms raised and wearing a big smile, this funny garlic bulb looks particularly proud to introduce itself! But do you know the difference between a garlic bulb and a garlic clove? The bulb is the whole head of garlic, just like the one shown in this Coloring Page. Beneath its protective papery skin are several smaller sections packed closely together: these are the garlic cloves. In the kitchen, we usually separate one or more cloves from the bulb before peeling them.

Garlic grows underground and belongs to the botanical genus Allium. This makes it a close relative of our peaceful little onion with the cheerful smile. They are true botanical cousins, even though their shapes and flavors are easy to tell apart. Garlic is especially famous for its powerful aroma and its ability to add plenty of flavor to a dish with just a few cloves.

The colored model uses a very gentle palette for this funny garlic bulb: pale lavender for the bulb, two fresh shades of green for the young shoots, and touches of dark red for the hands and shoes. Real garlic can also vary in color, with papery skins ranging from white and creamy beige to pinkish or purple-streaked varieties. You can follow the model or create your own palette for this picture to color.

After this little discovery, it's time to pick up the pace with a radish that has started dancing! And to meet the rest of this cheerful harvest, explore our Fruit and Vegetable Coloring Pages. Now there’s no chance of confusing a garlic clove with a whole garlic bulb!
